JYC 2009: Day 27
Prompt 27 was about sleep during the holidays, so I couldn't resist the temptation to use again the little sleeping girl image (Dover Publications free sample), I printed it on BW and colored it with my copics.
Then I used a nestabillities round scallop die on white cardstock and distress inks in order to do the clouds. I used the white Sakura Soufle pen to do the journaling, it's not visible in the photo, and then I added the title and the snowflake, I used distress inks and Stickles on it and...ready!

JYC 2009: Day 26
Prompt 26 was about "Boxing Monday" a UK custom, so I didn't follow the prompt and did a layout about what I did on the 26th.
I made a mini accordion album on the right side of the page, I added the brad on the right to fasten it, then I noticed that it opened on the left side too (LOL) so I added another brad on the left. The thread is a pearlescent DMC that I colored red with a copic market, I really love the sparkle in these threads.
Then I added the journaling spot and the photo on the left and used silver stickles all over the page.
Final step the title, I used the Cuttlebug "Baby Face" and "You 're not the Boss of Me" alphabets on silver DCWV cardstock and ready!

JYC 2009: Day 25
In this layout I wanted to use as many photos as possible, so I came up with the "gift" idea: I cut a patterned paper at 10""x12" and scored it at 4'' and at 8'', so I made something like a trifold card. I adhered the middle section on my page, and on it as well as on the two flaps, top and bottom, I adhered my photos, so I managed to fit three rows of small sized photos in this space. I used the white back side of the flaps to do my journaling, then I used distress inks on them and on top I did the gift image using a Pebbles stencil and the Sakura Stardust pens.
Then I added the ribbon and the images (Dover Publications free samples), I adhered the tiny image in the bottom using a thick foam pad so as the upper flap of the "present" will stay in place.
Then I added the title using Basic Grey alphabet stickers that I covered with a Sakura Stardust pen and ready!

JYC 2009: Day 24
In prompt 24 that was obviously about the Christmas eve, I wanted to use the image of the little girl on the left (Dover Publications free sample). So I printed it in BW and then colored it with my copics. Cuuute!
Then I wanted to add a photo of the two last cards I did for this year, so I made a pocket, used the Fiskars "Threading Water" border punch on the top and some pink string, and inserted the little cards inside it.
Then I added the title using Basic Grey alphabet stickers that I enhanced with the Sakura Stardust pens (as usual!) and ready!

JYC 2009: Day 23
Prompt 23 was about Christmas stockings and more generally the customs in the presentation of gifts.
So I just stamped and color with my copics the cute Sarah Kay (Noel Eve). Then I embossed a piece of white cardstock, I also used distress inks, and used it as a mat for the stamped image.
Next step, I folded a white cardstock sheet in half and I cut a piece about 5x4 inches so as to make a card. Then I sketched on it with a pencil the shape of a stocking and cut around it except from the upper part. I inked it with distress inks and used a white Sakura Soufle to make the faux stitches. Then I added a piece of white felt on top and the letters (Basic Grey) and finally I covered the letters with Ranger's Glossy Accents for a 3d look. I did my journaling inside.
Last step, I added the embellishments on the left (Dover Publucations free samples), I used Ranger's Glossy Accents on them too and ready!

JYC 2009: Day 22
Prompt 22 was about the "To Do" list, what you've already done, what's left to be done, etc. I inserted the list in a tag style (the tiny embellishments are printed free samples from Dover Publications, I used Versamark and UTEE to heat emboss them for an epoxy look) inside a pocket that I made in the patterned paper. On the right I did a mini album with a visit we did that day to a mall, and on the left I adhered Basic Grey plain chipboard ornaments, first I used distress inks on them and then a generous amount of stickles and ready!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!
That being said, back to the JYC, day 20 was about the unexpected, but since nothing unexpected occured so far, I'll just skip it!LOL
Updated 10/01/2010:
Well, something unexpected did occur and that is that I got a Slice as a gift, totally out of the blue! And I love my little new toy!

Card Making: Christmas #4
Merry Christmas everyone!
I managed to make the last two cards for this year, I used the scraps of paper from the first greek crop (thank you ladies), a couple of Tilda's, nestabillities, my copics and distress inks.
So, here 's the first one:
and the second one, in this I used a clear Copic Atyou Spica pen on the dress, the wings, and the ribbons of the gifts, I wish you could see it in real life, it's awesome!
I'm wishing a great Christmas Eve night to all!

JYC 2009: Day 19
Prompt 19 was about writing a letter to Santa but I've already done this in prompt #3 so in this prompt I did something a little different:
I incorporated a small size copy of a "letter from Santa" that I printed for my niece using THIS template.
I also added an image from the Dover Publications free samples and a photo of me with Santa!
I also bought a Robo Craft Lite, (it wasn' planned, I saw it on sale (119 euros, not bad!) and I just couldn't resist!) so I wanted to picture this too.
Ready!

JYC 2009: Day 18
Prompt 18 was about the Christmas menu. So after I did my journaling, I used aTim Holtz flourish mask and distress inks. Then I wanted to add an embellishment picturing something edible, the only thing I have is the apple stamp (a gift from the first greek crop, thank you ladies!), so I used it right on the journaling, colored it with my copics and then used Ranger's "Glossy Accents" on top, really nice effect.
I also used Ranger's Stickles, it's been a long time since I used them last, so I went a little over the top with them (if such a thing exists, LOL!!!). The little flowers are actually from the Martha Stewart "Flower Bed" deep punch, I just cut them around with scissors.
Last step, I added the title (Basic Grey alphabet stickers), I also used a Sakura Stardust pen in gold on top and ready!.
Oh gosh 1: I just realized I've written "Boudapest"! LOL
Oh gosh 2: I just realized that I've used photos of BBQed pork and yogurt sauce in a layout! LOL

This prompt was about what we are grateful of during these days. My idea was to make like something like a Christmas tree branch and use the photos like the ornaments, well, it didn't exactly work out, I like it nevertheless.
When I added the title, it was lost a bit amongst all the photos etc, so I used a Sakura Souffle to do the faux stiching.

JYC 2009: Day 15
Trying to get back on the JYC train, the prompt for the 15th day is about visitors, visiting, etc. I wanted to use this cute Tilda (thanks Eleni for the stamp loan!) and I used the candles detail a step further: for the journaling spot I used distress inks and then a Pebbles stencil but instead of chalk I used the Sakura Stardust pens and the result is, well, wow! That's why I love them.
I also had an accident while coloring the Tilda: I run out of my R000 and tried to refill it for the first time, apparently I used too much ink and when I started using it again the ink made a pool on my stamped image! LOL! I discarded some ink by pressing the chisel nib on a tissue paper and the marker was ok. I used golden DCWV glitter cardstock to make the mats for the images, I also used a brown marker to accent the edges.
The little girl on the left is a free sample from Dover Publications, I also added a bow (Venia thanks for the ribbon!) and a Kaiser pearl.
Well, I have to admit, I'm getting an addiction to Tildas!

Card Making: Christmas #2
I'm a bit behind with my Christmas cards so I'm trying to catch up.
For this card I stamped with Memento's Tuxedo Black using an Inkadinkado wood stamp on GK 120lbs Pure Luxury white cardstock, colored it with my copics. Then I cut it using the nestabillities Labels One dies. I left the bottom empty on purpose because I wanted to write the message, I also used blue distress ink on the edges.
Next step, I made the mat for the colored image, I used a sheet from the Basic Grey "Nook and Pantry" paper pad and cut and embossed it with the nestabillity die, one size larger than the one I used for the colored image. While I still had the die on the piece of paper, I used distress ink so as to give more contrast to the edge.
Then I made the base card, I used white cardstock on which I stamped the snowflakes with Versamark and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I used distress inks all over the front of the card and when I was done I wiped the excess ink of the snowflakes.
Last thing I added was the ribbon, I used my copics to change the color, added the bow and the tiny pearls.
Cutieee!!!

JYC 2009: Day 14
Another prompt for Christmas gifts etc, so I didn't elaborate that much, I just did a quick layout:
I used white cardstock, a Tim Holtz mini mask, distress inks, a nestabillities "labels 1" die and little strips of leftover paper in order to make the little notes, like the ones we attach to gifts. Each note has a different aspect of Christmas gifts.
I also used a Basic Grey plain chipboard embellishment, I colored it with distress inks and then I used on top Sakura Stardust pens. The title was made with the Cuttlebug "You're not the Boss of Me" alphabet.
At some point I'll add some embellishments but that's it for now!

JYC 2009: Day 13
Today's prompt is about the sound of Christmas: carols, song, etc. So I started by making a pocket where I'll add a cd with my favorite Christmas songs. In order to make the pocket I used the Martha Stewart "Flower Bed" deep edge punch and sanded the cardstock a lot because I wanted an old, distressed look.
The backround paper with the notes is not from the Basic Grey "Figgy" collection that I use for this album but from the Cosmo Cricket "Jolly by Golly" collection.
I printed some verses from Sinatra's "White Christmas" and used an old, blunt blade in my Fiskars trimmer to cut the lines because I wanted to tear the paper a bit, I didn't want it to be clean cut. I also used distress inks.
Next step I used a Dovecraft stamp with the little carolers and colored it with my copics and then cut it with a round nestabillity die. Then I made the journaling spot and added the stamped image on top.
The tree is a die cut shape from plain chipboard, it is from the Basic Grey "Undressed Chipboard Holiday" pack. I colored it with distress inks, I also used Sakura "Stardust" pens for the details. Then I wrote all over it the lyrics from the greek carol that children sing on Christmas Eve.
For the title I used ready made Basic Grey alphabet stickers, I can't remember the name of the collection, and layout ready!

This prompt was about Christmas past, current or future, so I decided to do something about Christmas past.
I found a couple of photos from kindergarten and made the mini album on the right, I also added a little tag inside a pocket. Then I wrote the story and colored it with distress inks, I also used a Tim Holtz mask. The title was made with the Cuttlebug "Harmony" alphabet.
I really like this layout, quite cute and nostalgic.

JYC 2009: Day 9
This prompt was about the different traditions that each one of us has, in decorations, meals, etc.
So I took a few photos of my usual Christmas decorations as well as my mother's recipe of a greek traditional sweet named "kourambies". I decorated the page with the ribbons from the Craftycroppersgr first crop (thank you ladies!) and added the title using the Cuttlebug "Harmony" alphabet. Then I cut a white piece of cardstock, colored it with distress inks, added the red eyelet and the ribbon and then did my journaling on it.

The prompt was about visions of Christmas (by visions I don't mean ghosts LOL), so I had my camera with me all day and took photos (even while driving, I just shot without looking!!!). I cut them with the small round Fiskars squeeze punch and then made the mats with the medium punch and colored them with distress inks. Then I made a circle with stickles on each mat and added the photos, my intention was to make a stickles frame.
For the title I used the Cuttlebug "You're not the Boss of Me" alphabet on DCWAV glitter cardsock.

Card Making: Ties Galore!
No time for JYC today, just a quick post about a card I made on Sunday: it is a card for a friend who has an addiction to ties (LOL), so I sketched and colored with my copics a funny card for him in order to wish him happy name day (Nikos). I used foam dots to adhere the guy, it really made the difference, but unfortunately this is a poor photo. The floor is a paper from the "Nutmeg" Basic Grey paper pad. Finally I used the Cuttlebug "Baby Face" alphabet for the title.

JYC 2009: Day 7
Today's prompt is about christmas presents, so I did a "shopping list" for my family. I 've already purchased the gift for my niece Rania and wrapped it as well, so I 've taken photos of it (before and after wrapping) an I 've put a green check underneath it.
The punced borders were made with the Martha Stewart "Flower Bed" deep edge punch, the truth is that I creatively "destroyed" a 6 x12 cardstock sheet with it, but finally I achieved my goal, that is to make the double border in the centre of the page (I don't know how to do it again though, I didn't keep any measures, LOL!).
I also remembered why I dislike eyelets so much, I just can't make them do what I want (!!!) first of all I ruined their shape (too much force used?)and then they tore the cardstock (too close to the edge?), in the end I just added the thread and glued them in place (hopefully they won't fall out!).
Maybe I 'll add some embellishments, but that's it for today!

JYC 2009: Day 6
Today's prompt is about mixed memories, good and bad, of Christmas past.
So I divided the page in two using the Martha Stewart "Garden Trellis" deep edge punch and then I added a ribbon that I colored gray with a Copic marker and also the bow using the Bow -Easy (note: first I made the bow and then colored it because ribbon becomes quite rigid after coloring).
Next step, I made the journaling spots using distress inks and a Tim Holtz mini mask.
Then I adhered the photos and the embellishments (Dover Publications samples), the fun part is that I printed the embellishments by mistake BW and then reversed the paper and printed them on color but I actually used a BW Santa (on the top left corner), so after all I'm happy I did this mistake!
Finally I added the title, I used Cuttlebug "Harmony" alphabet on grey glittered DCWV cardstock and ready!

JYC 2009: Day 5
Today's prompt is about advent calendars or in general, the ways to count the days until Christmas. I don't count them in any specific way and I don't do advent calendars, so I thought to replicate a child's advent calendar, the one that is filled with chocolate.
Then I wanted to use a tree image, it is a freebie from Dover Publications, so I printed the tree and scanned a photo when I was a child and positioned it in front of the tree. Then I needed a carpet, so I adhered some "Flower Soft" on a piece of chipboard. Then I needed some presents (LOL!) and I made them using a Cuttlebug embossing little folder.
The advent calendar was tricky to make but the result is sweet and nostalgic, it worthed the trouble.

Day 4 is about a perfect day so I did a layout about a perfect day in the holidays.
I did the "perfect planner" on my pc and then printed it on Gina K's PLW 80 lbs cardstock, then wrote the entries and then used distress inks in blue, green and yellow.
Next step, I sketched this perfect day, it actually is a combination of different pieces of the same day, and I colored it with my copics. I also used a dark brown cardstock to mat the drawing.
Then I used the letters that were in the paper pack and did the title, I also covered them with the Sakura Stardust pen in blue and finally I used Glossy Accents on top.
And voila!

JYC 2009: Day 3
The third day is about handwritten letters and cards, so I wrote a letter to Santa Claus!!!LOL!!!
I used Gina K's PLW 80lbs cardstock to make the envelope and the letter and then I used yellow distress ink. For the decoration of the envelope I used a Cuttlebug die and then a stamp from Inkadinkado "Winter Wonderland" clear stamps set, then I colored it with Copic markers. Then I used a HOTP journaling template to imitate the curved lines that the post office stamps on the stamps (I hope this makes sense!).
I made the card using the Noel Faith stamp from Stampavie and colored it with my copics. Then I cut an oval window on a thin chipboard piece and colored it in red with distress inks.
That's what I did so far, if I have time in the weekend I'll add some embellishments.

That's what I did so far, if I have time in the weekend I'll add some embellishments.

JYC 2009: Day 2
The second day is about weather and I wrote the journaling in a doc that I printed on Gina K's Pure luxury 80 lbs white cardstock. I prefer this paper when I want to print something for my LOs or cards because it is sturdy enough so I can distress it, stamp it etc. I wanted to incorporate a winter view, so I did the window (I used the tiny rectangle nestabillity die on chipboard, not easy to cut but I did it!) then painted with my copic markers. Then I sketched the "view" and colored it, and adhered it on an acetate piece that I adhered on the back of the window. Then I thought that it needed something more, so I did the curtain and finaly I sketched and colored the armchair and the little table.
Finally I added the photos on the left and it was ready.

JYC 2009: Day 1
Today was the first day of the Journal Your Christmas online class and we were supposed to write something like an introduction to the journal.
I incorporated a photo of the cover of my favorite christmas book and the title is a phrase from the book, I used the Cuttlebug "Baby Face" and "Harmony" alphabets.
I also used the Martha Stewart Flower Bed deep edge punch for the embellishments.
The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey "Figgy" collection and the cardstock is from Coredinations "Elements" assorthment.
Probably at some point I will add some more embellishments but this is for now!
Oh gosh! I just realized I 've blundered the "Christmas"!!! LOL!!!
I just hope I won't tear the paper when I'll attempt to fix it...
